United Way is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living and working in Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union Counties.

The Cancer Association of Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties is a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing quality of life services to area residents facing the challenges of cancer. Services ranging from screening to financial assistance is offered.

The Rotary Club of Spartanburg is a local civic club that focuses on Youth at Risk. Financial assistance is provided to a variety of groups, to include: Boys and Girls Clubs, as well as Boy and Girl Scouts. Additionally, the Rotary Club offers scholarships to worthy college students.
Richard Rhodes joined the Rotary Club in 1987. He is a past president of the Club, and he remains an active board member
The Spartanburg Jaycees serve a vital role in many community based activities, to include planning and coordinating the annual Spartanburg Christmas parade; providing assistance to community events, to include Music on Main and the Spring Fling; and also providing philanthropic efforts to benefit the Haven, the Charles Lea Center, and the Jaycee Camp Hope, which is a camp for mentally challenged individuals of all ages.
Noel Turner, III joined the Jaycees in 1999 and remained an active member until 2009. William Rhodes joined the Jaycees in 2009 and is currently an active member.
AYSO is a volunteer organization that develops and delivers quality youth soccer programs, which promote a fun, family environment based on the AYSO philosophies. In addition to providing youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives, the program attempts to make these programs available to youth from all socioeconomic groups.
Since 2008, our firm has sponsored teams, which helps AYSO to continue its program. Additionally, William Rhodes has served as a volunteer coach and referee, and he is currently an active member on the board.
The Spartanburg Lions Club primary goal is service. The Club’s goal is to provide service first to the Spartanburg Community; however, the Club also extends services outside the community to those in need, wherever they may be.
Noel Turner became a devoted and active member of the Lions’ Club in 1958, and he continued to volunteer time to the Club until his death in 2011.
TOTAL Ministries got its start in 1982 as Project Eat. The founder of Project Eat, Dannie Horne, saw an unemployment rate of 9.7% and saw that many people in Spartanburg County were hungry. During the first 17 months of Project Eat's existence, $190,000 of groceries were distributed in an effort to alleviate that problem.
In 1983, TOTAL Ministries of Spartanburg County, Inc. was incorporated by 12 Spartanburg churches to carry on the work of Project Eat. Since then, additional emergency services have been added to the TOTAL mission in an effort to help those in need.
TOTAL is an extension of Spartanburg's local churches who believe in a faith-based approach to helping those in need.
